ACTION REQUESTED
Request Commission authorization for the Executive Director to execute a settlement agreement
to resolve litigation.
SUMMARY
The Port will pay $2,860,000 of the settlement, with the remainder being paid by insurance
companies. The Port denies the allegations of a former employee relating to terms of
employment. However, considering the costs of litigation, the disruptions to the workplace from
litigation that would occur, and potential liability exposure, a settlement is recommended.
This matter was discussed in executive session.
