Project Overview
Project to address Station 1 improvements needed to support continuing operational use of
existing facility until it is displaced by future development
Priorities
1. Address station mechanical system performance, air quality, and temperature control
2. Improve dormitory accommodations

Project Program
ï‚§ Enabling work
• Use North apparatus bay to house two construction trailers for temporary dormitory use.
ï‚§ Mechanical work
• Replace two air-handling units (AHU’s) that are inefficient and past their useful life
• Replace kitchen range and exhaust hood that are not functioning and part of the
mechanical system upgrades.
ï‚§ Electrical work
• Replace transformer and upgrade existing system to support new mechanical system
ï‚§ Dormitory work
• Renovate existing dorms to provide better air quality, privacy and noise reduction
• Extend data infrastructure for internet and wifi access points.
• Upgrade computer automated dispatch/alarm notification for unit call-out (CAD-
RMS/FSA) to improve notifications based on response type needed.

Action Requested
Request Commission authorization for the Executive Director to:
(1) Authorize enabling construction work for the Primary Fire Station Continuing
Operations Preservation
(2) Procure long lead equipment
(3) Increase the project authorization by $6,700,000
