The Port of Seattle’s commitment to providing accessible facilities and operations pre-dates the 18
1990 Americans with Disabilities Act. This commitment is reflected in myriad of physical and 19
operational improvements throughout SEA and the Port of Seattle. 20

This order extends the Ports commitments and commits to continue to provide adequate 22
resources moving forward to fully achieve the goal of being one of the most accessible airports in 23
the nation and to ensure SEA Airport is welcoming, safe, and comfortable for all. 24

TEXT OF THE ORDER 26

The Commission affirms the Port of Seattle’s ongoing commitment to construct and operate 28
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, SEA, as one of the most accessible airports in the nation 29
and that the facility meet or exceed designs and considerations outlined in the Americans with 30
Disabilities Act. 31

The Port Commission hereby directs the Executive Director to expand his interpretation of the 33
Port of Seattle’s Century Agenda goals and objectives including but not limited to goal 5, Become 34
a Model for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion”, and Goal 2, Advance this region as a leading tourism 35
destination and business gatewayto reflect this formal commitment to prioritize accessibility 36
considerations in areas including SEA facility design, operations, and ongoing community 37
engagement. Included in this committement is to ensure accessibility of our conferences, events 38
and sponsored events by utilizing remotely available digital conference or meeting options 39
whenever possible. 40

The Port of Seattle’s Century Agenda goals highlight broad support for accessibility including but 47
not limited to goal 5, “Become a Model for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion”, Objective 14 to 48
Ensure that all internal and external programs, structures and practices provide equitable 49
opportunities for all”, and Goal 2: Advance this region as a leading tourism destination and 50
business gateway Objective 3: Continuously improve the operational efficiency and customer 51
experience at SEA. 52

The Commission commends the work of Port staff, members of the Accessibility Advisory 54
Committee and our community stakeholders in guiding the Port to where we are today and for 55
your commitment to working together into the future. SEA has a long-standing history of 56
prioritizing accessibility as an interdepartmental initiative and the work of many. 57
