Below is my public comment in support of the allocaon that the port commissioners made earlier today. Please
let me know if I need me to file this in a different place and I’d be happy to do so. Once again thank you for
everything you are doing to upli this partnership, your work and proacve aainment of funding is powering this
process forward and its deeply appreciated!
King County is committed to supporting the development of the Climate Careers Coalition (C3). Our
Green Jobs Strategy, published in February 2023, explicitly calls for the creation of a green jobs
coalition to shape and fund regional priorities in growing green jobs for frontline communities
through public-private partnerships. The collaboration agreement with the Port of Seattle to support a
FUSE fellow and the recent MOA on initial funding for C3's coordinating body reflect our deep
commitment to investing in a regional coordination body that centers the needs of frontline
communities affected by climate change. We have dedicated funds in the 2023-2024 climate cost
share budget specifically for regional workforce partnerships like C3. We look forward to matching the
Port of Seattle's commitments and using C3 as an essential resource in ensuring an inclusive and
prosperous green workforce in King County.

I wanted to express my sincere hope for a positive outcome at tomorrow's meeting related to the
improvements, ongoing work, and activation of Gateway Park North. This area has been missing safe
green spaces for too long. We live across the river in South Park and it is always sad to see lower
income areas with less access to safe green spaces. This area has a strong sense of community and
tradition. A gathering space would be appreciated and cared for generations to come. We have RV's
lining our streets and worry about safe spaces for our kids to play. Please consider these
improvements an investment in health, wellbeing and safety.
