ACTION REQUESTED
Request Commission authorization for the Executive Director to execute a new Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) between the Port of Seattle and the International Association of
Machinists and Aerospace Workers, AFL-CIO, District Lodge 160, Local Lodge 289, representing
Inventory Purchasing Specialists employed at Aviation Maintenance covering the period from
February 24, 2023, through December 31, 2025.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Good faith bargaining between the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace
Workers, Local Lodge 289, and the Port of Seattle resulted in a fair memorandum of
understanding consistent with Port’s priorities.
There are currently thirteen (13) Inventory Purchasing Specialists employed at the Port who
regularly work on various functions of receipt, storage, delivery of parts, processing and
procurement of goods and services Aviation Maintenance.
This MOU supersedes the CBA by and between Port of Seattle and the International Association
of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Local Lodge 289 signed June 6, 2022. This MOU establishes
an annual stipend each contract year to Inventory Purchasing Specialist employees covered by
the above referenced collective bargaining agreement, who participate in the Port of Seattle’s
457 Deferred Compensation Plan.
This MOU is for thirty-four months covering the period from February 24, 2023, through
December 31, 2025. The estimated total additional cost for benefit increases over the term is
$19,500.00.
