COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING OCTOBER 25, 2022
The Port of Seattle Commission met in a special meeting Tuesday, October 25, 2022. The meeting
was held at The Museum of Flight, Skyline Room, located at: 9404 E Marginal Way S, Seattle,
Washington. Commissioners Calkins, Cho, Hasegawa, and Mohamed were present. Commissioner
Felleman was absent and excused from the meeting.
CALL to ORDER
Pursuant to RCW 42.30 and Article IV, Section 8, of the commission bylaws, the meeting convened
at 10:00 a.m. for the purpose of holding a study session on the 2023 State Legislative Agenda.
Presenters:
Eric ffitch, Senior Government Relations Manager
The presentation addressed:
what the Commission can expect from the 2023 State Legislative Session;
the agenda development process;
incorporating ongoing work and core priorities; and
Commission adoption of the final agenda requested on November 8, 2022.
Members of the Commission and staff discussed:
the best way to follow Bill tracking during the session;
siting areas for hydrogen production;
clean fuel storage for the Port;
the Quiet Sound Program;
maritime decarbonization;
creating workspaces in the maritime industry;
the criteria for how the State spends funds associated with the Low Carbon Fuel Standard
and Climate Commitment Act;
quality jobs and small businesses;
including health equity in the Port’s legislative agenda;
cold ironing;
staff shortages, higher training, and cultural competency in policing;
siting of a second commercial airport not included in the legislative agenda; and
supporting efforts along the coast for offshore wind production.
