Hi,
In case you weren’t taking notes during my comments today and don’t call the email date/me I menoned, I’ve included it below for your convenience.
As I specifically referred to this email during my comments, it would be great if it could be added to the official meeng record as if I had physically handed it over to the clerk
aer my comment. If that needed to be done before the meeng that’s OK, though I would note that as of this moment (3PM PDT), the commission meeng is sll in session.
Thanks,
David

Subject: Wrien Public Comment on 8/24/22 Port of Seale “StART” Meeng

Wrien Public Comment on 8/24/22 Port of Seale “StART” Meeng
I’m wring to comment on the fundamental and negave change in engagement brought about by the new virtual meeng procedure introduced at this evening’s StART
meeng from convenonal Zoom to Zoom’s closed and opaque “Webinar Panelist” style format. Facilitator Brian Sco described it this evening:
“Then there are, however many observers; anybody that wants to parcipate in this public meeng can be here as an observer, uhm, but we won’t be able to see them
or hear them, so they are more like they were in the audience and away from the microphones in a big room, if we were all together.”
No, this is nothing like a real in-person public meeng “in a big room” where the presenters can see who is aending and understand the public’s engagement in the topics
discussed. Imperfect as Zoom is, it at least created some semblance of true public engagement as when Rep. Jayapal presented at the April StART meeng:
