Background
In the Spring of 2020, the Port funded an eleven-week
pilot project to introduce airport workers to the Airport
Maintenance Technician (AMT) career pathway
Faculty from the South Seattle College taught the
seven-credit college classes
23 students enrolled and 17 students completed
Graduates are eligible to enter the South Seattle FAA
approved AMT two-year program
The Port will reach out to displaced airport workers for
the new cohorts
The workforce development team recommends the
continuation of the program

Contract Terms and Scope of Work
A two-year contract with South Seattle College will
allow for at least two cohorts per year to participate
and, for classes to continue uninterrupted at the SEA
Airport
South Seattle College is an FAA certified facility
Scope of work includes instruction, student progress
management and support, wraparound support and
remedial math skills
The Boeing company forecast includes continued
demand for AMT personnel
Alaska Airlines supports this program and provides
scholarships to cohort graduates
