Dear Port of Seattle Commission Staff --

I am providing comment on item 7a. I am glad that the Port is doing more to

address system racism and oppression, and hope that as it considers this motion,

you don't neglect the external impacts of Port operation.

Sea-Tac aviation activity engenders broader environmental injustices. Under current

demand growth projections, Greenhouse Gas emissions from fuel pumped at Sea-

Tac are on their way to becoming the largest source of GHG emissions. These

emissions are driving the climate crisis, which is hitting under-resourced

communities of color hardest.

Any environmental justice work that you do must include acknowledging and

redressing the wider harms Port operations have on marginalized communities and

communities of color, in our region and beyond.
