ACTION REQUESTED
Request Commission authorization for the Executive Director to advertise and execute two
additional major works construction contracts for the Passenger Loading Bridge Renewal and
Replacement Phase 2 Project at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in addition to the one major
works construction contract previously authorized for this project. There is no funding associated
with this request.
SUMMARY
This request is to provide clarity to the action authorized September 10, 2019. Two major works
construction contracts have been advertised and both received favorable bids, but the previous
commission agenda memo failed to specifically request three contracts. Instead, only one
authorization to advertise and execute a contract was requested. Reliable, well-operating
passenger loading bridges (PLBs) are critical to airline and airport operations. Port staff has
created a prioritized list of PLBs, whose age and condition indicate a need for replacement. These
mechanical and electrical construction contracts will support the replacement of the remaining
PLBs.
