Employee Security Screening Phase 2

Employee Screening at SeaTac

• Phase 1 created 2 terminal “checkpoint” locations for screening of

airport employees traversing from public to secure/ sterile areas

• Phase 2 encompasses adding airfield screening capabilities to 2

access gates to including under-vehicle video screening. This

request is for design of the buildings to house employee screeners

and screening equipment

• Phase 3 will be targeted on improvements in cargo areas

Gates E125 and E190

Screening for Airfield Gates E125 and E190

• Current state –

1. All vehicles entering the airfield are checked for appropriate credentials (badge

or under escort)

2. Vehicles and personal belongings are subjected to a visual inspection

• Future state Phase 2 (current request) –

1. All vehicles will receive under carriage screening via video technology

2. All persons will have personal items x-rayed and then proceed through a walk

through advanced imaging technology (AIT) to check for prohibited items

– Undercarriage video monitoring and xray technology with remote

viewing capabilities

• Project consists of 2 ongoing costs

– 16 FTE of represented employee screeners
