The agenda for the Summit included speakers representing national, international, regional,
and local business and thought leaders focused on SAF.
Specific topic and themes that were addressed included: feedstock options for Washington and
the Pacific NW from both an academic and business perspective; clean fuel standards and other
policy drivers; end user/off-taker perspectives; SAF certification; and business jet aviation
opportunities and challenges. We will also hear from fuel producers and financiers to get inside
recent project deals and the U. S. Department of Energy leadership.

• former Navy Secretary Ray Mabus;
• fuel producer CEOs & COOs including Jennifer Holmgren / LanzaTech, Bryan
Sherbacow/World Energy, Pat Gruber/GEVO, Dave Kettner/Virent, Jeff Manternach/Red
Rock Biofuels;
• financiers and investors including Eric Toone of Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Bruce
Comer/Ocean Park Advisors, and Michael Schrader of Orrick Public Finance;
• public sector leaders including Dr. Mike Wolcott/WSU/Ascent, and Zia Haq/U.S. DOE;
• fuel certification including the Chairman of the Board of the Roundtable of Sustainable
Biomaterials and Rob Boyd of IATA;
• airlines and aircraft manufacturers including Alaska Air Lines, Delta Air Lines, and
Boeing; and
• key representatives from business jet aviation.

PREVIOUS COMMISSION ACTIONS OR BRIEFINGS
December 12, 2017 – Port Commission adopted a motion to set sustainable jet fuel use at Sea-
Tac International Airport that by:
• 2028, ten percent of jet fuel available at Sea-Tac would be produce locally from
sustainable sources;
• By 2035, 25 percent of jet fuel available at Sea-Tac would be produce locally from
sustainable sources; and,
• By 2050, the maximum blend currently7 approved for jet fuel will be produced locally
from sustainable sources.
July 24, 2018 - Port Commission approved the Sustainable Aviation Fuels strategic work plan.
