A MOTION OF THE PORT OF SEATTLE COMMISSION
ADOPTING THE CHARTER OF THE
AVIATION SPECIAL COMMITTEE
ADOPTED
MARCH 13, 2018

TEXT OF THE MOTION
The Port of Seattle Commission hereby adopts the attached charter of the Aviation Special
Committee to develop recommendations and provide oversight in pursuit of the Port's Century
Agenda goal to meet the region's air transportation needs at Seattle-Tacoma International
Airport for the next 25 years and encourage the cost-effective expansion of domestic and
international passenger and cargo service as further elaborated in the attached charter.

STATEMENT IN SUPPORT OF THE MOTION
The Aviation Special Committee, chaired by Stephanie Bowman and Peter Steinbrueck, has
been chartered primarily to conduct in-depth oversight of the complex Sustainable Airport
Master Plan and to prepare the chairs to participate in the regional air transportation
discussion.
Significant infrastructure projects are currently underway at the airport and will receive the
additional scrutiny necessary to provide the full Commission with a clear picture of how those
projects are proceeding.
The primary outcome of this Committee will be to advance the SAMP planning process to
environmental review and to provide oversight on matters related to SAMP, regional air
transportation discussions, and airport infrastructure progress.
