SUBJECT: Motion in honor of veterans and commemorating Veterans Day
ACTION REQUESTED:
Request that the Port Commission adopt a motion commemorating Veterans Day and honoring
veterans and service members of the Armed Forces of the United States of America.
SYNOPSIS
This nation was founded on the belief and values associated with our freedom. The men and
women who have proudly worn this nation’s uniforms have fought with honor and integrity to
uphold those ideals. Our veterans have served valiantly and often continue to serve their
communities following their separation from active duty. This motion is consistent with the
Port’s mission to support transitioning veterans and coincides with the objectives outlined by our
Veterans Fellowship Program. It is our privilege to honor those who have laid their lives on the
line and provide them the support and gratitude that they deserve. On Veterans Day, we celebrate
and honor the men and women of our Armed Forces for their patriotism, commitment to our
nation’s freedom, and willingness to serve this country.
The Port of Seattle Commission is proud to honor those that have served this country and the
thousands of veterans who have made this region their home. This motion, which expresses the
“sense of the Commission” recognizes and honors the sacrifices and valor of current and past
members of our Armed Forces and thanks these individuals for their service and commitment to
this nation.
