SUBJECT: Special Order of Business: Seattle Business Magazine “Green 50” Award
On September 21, 2011, Seattle Business magazine named the Port of Seattle as a winner of the
magazine’s “Green 50” award, which recognizes local businesses and institutions that “deserve
recognition for believing that forthright stewardship of our resources is good business.”
According to Seattle Business, companies and institutions winning the “Green 50” award have
demonstrated extraordinary commitment to sustainable business practices.
In addition to being named as one of the “Green 50”, the Port won the award in the

initiatives at both the Airport and Seaport. These innovative programs include a centralized pre-
conditioned air system for aircraft parked at gates at Sea-Tac International Airport; the
Sustainable Aviation Fuels Northwest (SAFN) project; the At Berth Clean (ABC) Fuels program
for cargo vessels, and the Scrappage and Retrofits for Air in Puget Sound (ScRAPS) program for
drayage trucks serving the Port’s container terminals.
