RESOLUTION NO. 3651
A RESOLUTION of the Port Commission of the Port of Seattle
renaming Elliott Bay Park as Centennial Park
WHEREAS, the Port of Seattle (the “Port”), a municipal corporation of the State of
Washington established in 1911, owns and operates a system of marine terminals and properties and
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport; and
WHEREAS, Elliott Bay Park, located adjacent to Terminal 86 on Seattle’s waterfront, is
a Port-owned property consisting of eleven acres of landscaped areas with interpretive
information, pedestrian and bicycle pathways and shoreline access; and
WHEREAS, in 2011, the Port of Seattle is commemorating the 100
th
anniversary of its
founding on September 5, 1911; and
WHEREAS, renaming a popular and visible park in honor of the Port’s Centennial will
serve to further inform the King County citizens of the Port’s longevity and economic
contributions this region; and
WHEREAS, a public park is a tangible symbol of the sustainable future for the Port’s
next 100 years; and
WHEREAS, the Port of Seattle will affix signs at the park’s three main entry points to
designate the renaming;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Port Commission of the Port of
Seattle that:
Section 1: Elliott Bay Park is hereby renamed Centennial Park.
ADOPTED by the Port Commission of the Port of Seattle at a regular meeting held this
_____day of _______, 2011, and duly authenticated in open session by the signatures of the
Commissioners voting in favor thereof and the seal of the Commission.
