SUBJECT: Special Order of Business Swearing In of New Police Officers
The Port of Seattle Police Department (POSPD) has recently hired two new officers. As part of
their introduction to the Port, the Commission President will publicly administer an oath of
honor” to the new members. Two police officers are being so sworn at this commission meeting.
Both of these officers are brand new to law enforcement.
Officer Andrew Depolo joined the POSPD in November of 2008 and began his training at the
Washington State Criminal Justice Training Academy immediately. He graduated from the
academy and began his Patrol Training experience in May 2009. He has now completed all his
field training and is on solo patrol at the airport. Officer Depolo was born in California but was
raised in the Redmond/Woodinville area, graduating from Bellevue Community College with an
AA in Criminal Justice. He has always wanted to be a police officer, and the Port came highly
recommended from those he knew who were already profession peace officers. Andrew was
unable to make it to the last public ceremony.
Officer Courtney Robertson joined the POSPD in August 2010 and just completed the
Washington State Criminal Justice Training Academy where she was a platoon leader and
graduated third in her class overall. Officer Robertson was born and raised in southern
California, but has traveled the world. She attended several universities around the U.S. as well
as overseas, including SoonChunHyang in South Korea and St. Petersburg State University in
Russia. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Russian Studies from UCLA and is a fluent
Russian speaker. Officer Robertson wanted to join a department that could use her knowledge of
foreign cultures and languages. She relocated to Washington because of its beauty and chose to
stay, she says, “because I found my dream!
